Job Overview

Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and diverse learning needs. This role works closely with general education and special education teachers to provide targeted instructional support, assist with behavior interventions, and maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist general education and special education teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and instructional support.
  • Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support IEP goals.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and organization.
  • Assist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and provide social-emotional support.
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage student independence, engagement, and positive behavior.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • High school diploma or equivalent and passing score on a paraprofessional exam, or Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a special education setting.
  • Ability to successfully complete required Nevada state background checks and clearances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Experience working in a Title I or high-need school environment.
