SPED Inclusion Teacher Assistant (Grades: 3-8)
About the role
This position assists the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, helping with inventory and equipment maintenance, keeping administrative records, assisting substitutes, supporting students with physical disabilities, providing personal care, managing behavior, and performing various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays

- Assist substitutes teachers
- Support students with physical disabilities
- Provide personal care to students
- Manage behavior of students

Requirements
- Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency)
- Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass an academic assessment
- Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification
- Completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants or six months of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow instructions
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with children with disabilities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to stay current with professional developments

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment / alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
