Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student on the assigned caseload.
- Provide instruction and implement a variety of instructional techniques to address curriculum goals in the areas of functional academics, communication, motor skills, social skills, vocational skills, and self-care.
- Plan and provide systematic instruction designed to increase functional, age-appropriate skills in various community settings.
- Conduct continuous monitoring of students' progress throughout the year.
- Perform non-complex health procedures on students as required.
- Maintain accurate, updated records for all students on caseload.
- Participate enthusiastically in structured and informal learning and development opportunities, including seeking and accepting continual feedback from staff and administration.
- Create a structured, achievement-oriented learning environment, and develop a positive rapport with students.
- Utilize student data to drive instruction, re-teaching and classroom interventions.
- Exemplify InspireNOLA’s core values in all interactions with students and their families to demonstrate your commitment to students’ academic and behavioral success.
- Proactively manage student behavioral issues and adhere to school policies for infractions and incentives.
- Consistently engage in school-based professional development sessions (cluster and data review meetings) as well as additional professional development opportunities offered by the InspireNOLA Support Team office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Two or more years of teaching experience (preferred).
- Current Louisiana Teacher Certification or certification in progress (Mild/Moderate or Severe/Profound).
- Ability to work well with children who have moderate to severe cognitive disabilities and autism.
- Proven success raising the achievement levels of historically under-served students.
- Expertise in content area and strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school team, families and community members.
- Desire to continuously improve instructional practices and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
