Spectral Image Scientist

About the role

Leverage advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and support S&T client challenges. Apply advanced skills, extensive technical expertise, and full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction and mentor and supervise team members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and shape R&D programs related to remote sensing, image processing, and image science.
• Collaborate with national and service intelligence agencies or centers, including imagery collection and exploitation and GEOINT.
• Use Microsoft programs like Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
• Develop and use APIs for tool development and software coding in IDL, MATLAB, C++, or Python.
• Work with manmade irradiance sources, signature library development, and sensor design principles.
• Parse code and scripts in IDL, JAVA, MATLAB, Python, or R.
• Support S&T client challenges through advanced physics research expertise.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in the field of remote sensing, image processing, or image science.
• 3+ years of experience with applied image processing and scientific analysis of spectral image data with commercial and civil data sources.
• Experience with techniques, algorithms, and spectroscopic analysis required for processing hyperspectral or multispectral imagery from airborne or space-borne systems.
• Experience collaborating with national and service intelligence agencies or centers, including imagery collection and exploitation and GEOINT.
• Knowledge of spectral imaging, phenomenology, and processing techniques.
• Ability to parse code and scripts in IDL, JAVA, MATLAB, Python, or R.
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
• Nice if you have: Experience working with manmade irradiance sources, experience with signature library development and using Harris' ENVI COTS image processing software or ERDAS IMAGINE, experience with sensor design principles and their relationship to sensor performance, experience in tool development and software coding in IDL, MATLAB, C++, or Python, and with the development and use of APIs, experience in atmospheric science and with GIS software and methodological principles, especially ArcGIS, experience with the Amazon C2S cloud infrastructure framework, including PKIs and content and access security constraints, Master's degree in a Science, Social Science, or Security field, completion of Training in the field of Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Physical Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.
