Specimen Processing Techician I

About the role

ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to work in the Molecular Laboratory. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States; ChristianaCare will not sponsor employment visas for this position.

Schedule

Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. This position requires 2-3 holidays per year. Weekends are not currently required but may change in the future.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips.
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens.
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section to maintain stated turnaround times.
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or health science or a High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from a similar hospital system.
• Prior lab experience or equivalent science coursework.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $19.10 – $27.69. The actual salary offered within this range will depend on individual factors including skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.
