About the role
As a Specification Representative at Wilsonart, you’ll drive commercial growth by securing, managing, and converting specifications for all Wilsonart products. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to the commercial design community, influencing material selection and ensuring Wilsonart solutions are seamlessly implemented from concept through completion. Success is measured by Wilsonart specification adoption, project conversion, and sustained market share growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with architects, designers, specification writers, and facility planners within the assigned territory.
- Drive specification adoption and ensure conversion through close collaboration with sales, distribution, and fabrication partners.
- Provide expert product, design, and application guidance tailored to project requirements.
- Track project opportunities and specification-to-sale conversion using Wilsonart’s CRM system.
- Execute hands-on merchandising, display placement, and updates to maintain brand consistency.
- Represent Wilsonart at industry associations and professional events.
- Deliver professional presentations and product training to design firms and influencers.
- Provide feedback to internal teams regarding the surface needs of the design community.
- Effectively use Wilsonart’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to document account data, sales call itineraries, activity, merchandise placement, and project opportunity tracking.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a closely related field. One additional year of experience may substitute for one year of required education (maximum substitution of four years).
- One year of field selling experience, preferably in the commercial design community.
- Knowledge of the complete product line and its marketing performance.
- Experience with marketing, sales, and specification principles.
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats with all levels of the organization and customers.
- Ability to sell products and concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel as required.
- Ability to make professional public presentations.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Effective time management skills and a strong work ethic.
Working Conditions
- Physical Requirements: Sitting in the same location or standing/walking; required to stoop, climb, or lift light material (10-20 lbs) or equipment.
- Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area (e.g., executive, management, and support positions).
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000, taking into account skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
