Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. The role involves demonstrating leadership, maintaining flexibility, and treating all team members with respect.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Learns and applies Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.

  • Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately, and holding team members accountable for performance.

  • Understands the scope of practice for both themselves and team members and escalates issues as necessary.

  • Champions new ideas, leads the change process, and collaborates with other departments to resolve problems.

  • Mentors, orients, and coaches team members in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.

  • Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.

  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care that reflects assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan.

  • Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of data, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes.

  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, such as planning, measuring/monitoring, assessing, and improving.

  • Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices, applies standard precautions, and maintains a safe environment.

  • Prompts answers to call lights, alarms, and patient requests, facilitates the customer's ability to utilize resources, and maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Maintains and protects a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.

  • Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion.

  • Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those needs.

  • Gives patients information in a way they can understand and ensures comprehension.

  • Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.

  • Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime, identifies and assists in systems improvement, and utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in a Critical Care, DOU, or SDU setting, or successful completion of a KP Critical Care, DOU, or SDU course (as unit appropriate) within the last 12 months.

  • Registered Nurse License (California).

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

  • Basic Arrhythmia course required.

  • Ventilator training required.

Notes

  • If twelve (12) hour option chosen; shift will be 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. Back up 8-hour shift will be 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.
  • This is a part-time RN noc position 24 hours per week, working every other weekend.

Pay Range

$58.29 - $79.98 / hour
