About the role
Tokio Marine HCC is a global industry-leading specialty insurance group, offering over 100 classes of specialty insurance. This role is based in the Crisis Management division's headquarters in Chappaqua, NY, with a 4/1 in-office schedule.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
- Manage a high volume of broker submissions by following structured work plans and meeting predefined turnaround-time goals.
- Meet or exceed established commitments on deadlines to maintain strong broker satisfaction and competitive market placement.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers; build and maintain strong, collaborative market relationships to facilitate the underwriting process, promote business development, drive profitable premium growth, and stay abreast of industry trends.
- Articulate underwriting decisions, pricing rationale, and policy terms clearly and persuasively to brokers and direct manager.
- Gather market intelligence and broker feedback to identify new business opportunities and improve service delivery.
- Contact and respond to verbal and written inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide appropriate information and serve as an underwriting resource.
- Create and maintain all documentation (physical and electronic) including new and renewal bound files, underwriting worksheets, documentation of phone conversations, and other key documents according to departmental guidelines.
- Adhere to all company underwriting authority directives, underwriting guidelines, and other applicable company policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for other departmental staff with regards to underwriting procedures and other departmental guidelines.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of relevant and progressive Specialty underwriting experience required.
- Kidnap & Ransom and/or Political Violence underwriting experience is a plus.
- Earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management & Insurance, Economics or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience required.
- Intermediate proficiency and experience using Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Adept at working as part of a team yet capable of working independently as needed.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $56,600 - $125,000, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
