Specialty Operator
About the role
The Specialty Operator Production Associate position at International Paper involves setting up and operating machines to meet customer order requirements. Key responsibilities include inspecting and removing defective products, verifying orders, performing preventative maintenance, verifying product dimensions, and completing production reports.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machines to meet customer order requirements
- Inspect and remove defective products
- Verify orders are accurate prior to shipment
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Verify size, grade, and width of products
- Inspect and slab down damaged rolls
- Deliver rolls to the machine in proper unwind direction
- Return unused butt rolls to inventory
- Keep roll stock organized
- Prepare required production reports
- Complete forklift/clamp inspection checklist before shift
- Follow operator's PM schedule and maintain records
- Report maintenance issues using work order procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Basic maintenance skills
- Ability to read and use a ruler
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and understand simple instructions
- Ability to write work orders and fill out necessary production paperwork
- Ability to add and subtract basic fractions
- Ability to use a calculator for basic arithmetic operations
- Ability to isolate and solve basic mechanical problems
