Specialty Imaging Technologist - CT Scan

Position Summary

Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of mammography, computed tomography, and special procedures. Uses specialized equipment, techniques and/or computer programs to perform the work.

Job Requirement

  • Education/Experience: Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Licensing/Certification Requirements: State of Nevada License in Radiology. Valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography; National Certification in specialty area such as Computed Tomography or Angiography. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Additional Position Requirements: Preferences will be given to applicants who document the following: Valid State of Nevada License in Radiology; Valid American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) Registered in Computed Tomography; Previous 3 (three) years experience in performing CT exams in a Trauma setting and; CT interventional exams on patients.

  • Procedures and protocols associated with area of assignment;
  • Specialized equipment used in area of assignment;
  • Radiography protocols and procedures;
  • Quality assurance and quality control measures;
  • Personal computers;
  • Anatomy and physiology of the human body;
  • Contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms;
  • Venipuncture techniques;
  • Department and hospital safety practices and principles;
  • Patient rights;
  • Age specific patient care practices;
  • Infection control policies and practices;
  • Handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials;
  • Department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill In

  • Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation;
  • Utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation;
  • Applying aseptic techniques;
  • Positioning patients properly to maximize results;
  • Communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties;
  • Efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

  • Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment;
  • Stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time;
  • Vision to read printed materials and VDT screens;
  • Hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone;
  • Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
