Specialist Track Design
for sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Only include sections that have real specific content. We must not repeat job title as heading. No Job ID etc. Remove boilerplate. Must preserve all substantive info.
We need to parse posting.
Content:
- Opening paragraph: "Posting Start Date: 9/11/26 Join CPKC, North America’s first transnational railroad connecting U.S. Canada and Mexico, where your career drives progress and safety is paramount. We connect communities, fuel economic growth, and provide meaningful work in a culture that values diversity, accountability, and pride. With opportunities for training, development, and advancement, you’re not just building a career, you’re part of something bigger. Together, we move goods, connect people, and create lasting change. Your future starts here."
That's about the role/company. Could be "About the role" or maybe "About CPKC". We'll put under About the role
with that paragraph.
- PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This role offers the opportunity to support the Manager, Track Standards, Design & Welding by developing practical, cost-effective, and customer-focused trackwork design solutions. It plays an important part in ensuring special trackwork is available when needed to support maintenance and construction activities. In this position, you will help create trackwork designs, special trackwork plans, and related maintenance requirements that support ongoing and future track maintenance programs, capital projects, and customer facility initiatives. You will also contribute to safe, efficient, and reliable railway operations by ensuring designs and plans align with applicable regulatory standards, including those established by Transport Canada, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Mexican railway authorities.
That's responsibilities. Could be under Responsibilities
with paragraphs and maybe bullet list? It's prose. We'll keep as
. - POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: list of bullet-like sentences each starting with a verb. Should be turned into
- . We'll put under
Responsibilities
maybe combine with purpose? But we can separate: maybe "Responsibilities" includes purpose and accountabilities. However we need to avoid duplicate headings. Could have one Responsibilities section containing both purpose paragraph and list. - POSITION REQUIREMENTS: list of items: Degree or diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience; additional qualifications in Metallurgy or Engineering Design are considered an asset; Two to four years of technical design and/or drafting experience, preferably in railway, trackwork, or related infrastructure environments; AutoCAD experience is required; experience with 3D design and modeling is preferred; Knowledge of material properties, mechanics, welding, practical hands-on work, and operational problem-solving environments are considered assets; Strong problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal, and document control/management skills; hold a valid full Class 5 driver’s permit, and maintain a passport for travel to Canada and Mexico; Ability to work primarily in an office setting, travel as required, respond to occasional after-hours or weekend calls. These are requirements/qualifications/skills. We need to split into sections: Requirements, Qualifications, Skills. The instruction: Use headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). So we need to decide what goes where. We have: - Requirements: maybe education and experience: "Degree or diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience; additional qualifications in Metallurgy or Engineering Design are considered an asset; Two to four years of technical design and/or drafting experience, preferably in railway, trackwork, or related infrastructure environments; AutoCAD experience is required; experience with 3D design and modeling is preferred". Could be Requirements. - Qualifications: maybe "Knowledge of material properties, mechanics, welding, practical hands-on work, and operational problem-solving environments are considered assets". Could be Qualifications. - Skills: "Strong problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal, and document control/management skills; hold a valid full Class 5 driver’s permit, and maintain a passport for travel to Canada and Mexico; Ability to work primarily in an office setting, travel as required, respond to occasional after-hours or weekend calls". Could be Skills. We must not create sections with filler like "commensurate with experience". We have actual content. Now Benefits: "WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension and/or retirement plansEmployee share purchase planPerformance incentive planAnnual fitness subsidyPart-time studies program". That's benefits. We'll put underBenefits
with- items.
Pay and Schedule: Not mentioned. No pay or schedule specifics. So we should NOT create those sections.
We also have pre-employment requirements, becoming a railroader, culture of inclusion, etc. Those are boilerplate? The instruction: Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. The sections like PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS, BECOMING A RAILROADER, CULTURE OF INCLUSION might be considered boilerplate/legal? They are not exactly EEO but they are about inclusion and pre-employment. The instruction says remove EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate. The culture of inclusion is similar to EEO; likely should be removed. Pre-employment requirements (medical, drug testing, background investigation) might be considered legal/boilerplate? Possibly should be removed as they are standard. The instruction: "Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate". So pre-employment requirements likely legal; remove. Becoming a railroader maybe not boilerplate but could be considered extra; but it's about management conductor program; might be considered part of role? Might be considered extra detail but not core responsibilities. Safer to remove as it's not directly about the role's duties. The instruction says preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. But also remove boilerplate. The pre-employment requirements are substantive but maybe considered legal boilerplate. However they are specific to the job (medical, drug testing, background). Might be considered important. But the instruction says remove legal boilerplate. I'd lean to remove them to comply.
Thus we keep only About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits.
Now we need to format.
