About the role
We are seeking an experienced Specialist Software Developer to join our dynamic B2B Commerce team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain our microservices-based ecommerce platform using Spring Boot and React. This role requires a deep understanding of software development best practices, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation and efficiency. The Specialist Software Developer will take ownership of features, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of scalable and robust microservices using Spring Boot and React.
- Contribute to the architecture and design of new features and enhancements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
- Leverage generative AI and emerging technologies across the full SDLC to optimize, accelerate, and enhance development outcomes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate our platform with ERP systems, data warehouses, and other essential applications.
- Collaborate with product management to refine feature requirements and specifications.
- Implement and advocate for best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration.
- Support introduction of AI-based testing frameworks and code review automation.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization to ensure high availability and scalability of the platform.
- Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in software development with a focus on Spring Boot and React.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, HTML/CSS/JS, RDBMS, REST, GraphQL, and Git.
- Expert knowledge of HTTP, cookies, sessions, AJAX, and browsers.
- Familiarity with Elastic, Redis, React, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure.
- Exposure to Kafka, change data capture, and data replication processes and tools.
- Exposure to the MCP Protocol and RAG-based AI agents.
- Exposure to LLM Agent connectivity via APIs.
- Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted development platforms and implementing AI APIs in applications.
- Proven experience in designing and developing microservices-based architectures.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of security best practices and industry standards.

Pay
Our base pay range for this position is $101,000 - $168,400. This range is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy and is determined by several factors, including performance, experience, skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
