About the role

The Senior Contractor Safety Specialist ensures contractor safety activities comply with legal, regulatory requirements, and customer needs. This position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of contractor safety programs, company safety requirements, corporate policy and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides contractor safety leadership and guidance to assigned areas to ensure Contractor Safety programs, company safety requirements, corporate policy and standards are implemented and followed.
  • Sets up and maintains relationships with local contractors, project leadership, operations, and maintenance to be a resource in contractor safety support.
  • Develops a working partnership with Projects, Operations, Maintenance, and Contractor personnel through open dialogue to drive effectiveness and efficiency of company Health and Safety processes.
  • Supports the incident reporting and Team Investigation process for contractors within assigned areas.
  • Ensures support for Contractor Safety committees and programs within assigned areas.
  • Shares contractor safety materials, information to contractors to prevent incidents and injuries.
  • Supports Contracts Management Group (CMG) in MSAs through company applications to provide safety evaluation of contractor’s safety programs.
  • Interacts with CMG and contractor on program gaps and compliance.
  • Supports contractor safety training process established by the company to ensure contractor compliance.
  • Supports contractor safety training process established by the company to ensure contractor compliance.
  • Supports the Contractor Safety Audit Program through the coordination of contractor safety audits and evaluations of contractors.
  • Schedules, audits contractors’ safety programs, conducts field walk-throughs to inspect local contractors’ performance of tasks in the field, documents findings, and tracks to closure.
  • Coordinates the sharing of Health and Safety best practices, learning's, and other vital information with company & contract personnel.
  • Supports contractors as a resource with local reporting of medical case management to ensure compliance with corporate contractor guidelines and policy.
  • Evaluates the need for H&S training, skill demonstrations or demonstration of knowledge to facilitate successful implementation of H&S requirements within his or her span of control.
  • Interacts as needed with local training specialists with identified gaps.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in safety or related technical field preferred; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of safety or operations experience is preferred.
  • Ability to logically review and analyze safety initiatives and programs to meet compliance.
  • Experience developing technical documentation and/or training materials related to Oil and Gas Industry is preferred.
  • Ability to prepare presentations and communicate clearly, concisely, persuasively, and confidently with all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to effectively work and share information, ideas, and resources with other individuals, teams, internal customers, and stakeholders of the business.
  • Ability to navigate competing priorities, multi-task, and change direction in a variety of workplace situations.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of business/technical software tools to perform responsibilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is needed.
  • Able to travel up to 25% domestically is required.
