Specialist, Programmatic (California State Lottery)
About the role
Programmatic Specialist works within the Programmatic group – a subset of the Digital group – and reports to the Associate Director. While the programmatic group is a specialized channel, the role also requires collaboration with strategy and investment teams as an extension of their plan execution process.
Programmatic Specialists own campaign management from start to finish, including all self-service capabilities in planning, trafficking, execution, optimization, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Master the usage of demand-side platforms (DSP) for campaign setup, optimization, and reporting, including:
- Bulk updating of campaigns, budget management, and troubleshooting platform issues
- Daily use of reporting suites to glean insights and make optimizations against KPI goals
- Applying insights to develop recommendations and set up campaigns
- Supporting the management of relationships with platform support teams to drive innovation
- Learn and master processes and systems related to the trafficking and workflow management of programmatic campaigns, including:
- Primary Ad Server
- Dynamic Creative Ad Server
- Billing/Planning system
- Verification systems
- Measurement systems
- Become proficient in reporting systems that support programmatic campaigns, including data, verification, and analysis from DSP reporting output.
- Work collaboratively with multiple internal and external groups (strategy teams, clients, and creative agencies).
- Participate in status meetings and communicate updates outwardly.
- Clarify campaign deliverable requirements with strategy teams.
- Collaborate with analytics and ad operations teams on tagging requirements to QA performance.
- Own the billing and reconciliation process, including ad-serving estimation, to maintain campaign parameters.
- Communicate partner recommendations and rationales to share feedback on partners.
- Proactively manage expectations by communicating if deadlines will not be met.
- Mentor and guide assistants/associates.
Requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience working on a Programmatic Team
- Knowledge of DSP platforms (DoubleClick Bid Manager, Mediamath, The Trade Desk, AppNexus, or DataXu) required; Trade Desk experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in advanced Excel formulas and experience manipulating large datasets into digestible insights
- Proactive attitude with a strong interest in constant learning and growth
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize projects across campaigns while clearly communicating progress and completion
- Bachelor’s degree
Pay
Preferred yearly salary: $70,400. Actual base salary is determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, training, certifications, and internal equity. The company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
