About the Role

As our Specialist Patient Access, you will serve as a crucial first point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless and empathetic experience while accurately facilitating their entry into our healthcare system. You'll manage patient appointments, verify insurance information, register patient demographics, and provide clear financial counseling regarding services. You'll communicate effectively with patients and clinical teams, resolve access-related issues, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies.

To succeed, you'll need exceptional customer service skills, strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and financial verification, excellent communication for clear patient and team interactions, and a profound commitment to patient advocacy, data accuracy, and optimizing the patient journey.

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration duties and scheduling functions in the EMR.
  • Process inbound and outbound referrals.
  • Ensure pre-registration process is complete for all assigned accounts at least 5 days prior to the scheduled date of service whenever possible.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and primary and secondary insurance.
  • Enter correct primary and secondary insurances during scheduling in the IDX system; direct non-insured patients to financial counselors.
  • Obtain accurate patient demographics during registration and scheduling, ensuring correct spelling, abbreviations, punctuation, and completeness.
  • Obtain authorization/pre-certification from physician's office or insurance company for consults.
  • Follow up on missing authorizations; if not obtained within 48 hours prior to service, contact patient to advise them of their financial responsibility.
  • Answer phones and respond to telephone inquiries quickly and appropriately, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Act as a resource and liaison for internal and external customers as well as team members.
  • Contribute to improving patient access workflows.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • One (1) year of customer service experience or industry experience in a healthcare setting (Required).
  • Associates degree in a health-related field (Preferred).
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience related to the core functions (Preferred).

Pay

$19.01 - $26.85 per hour.
