Specialist, Paralegal II
About the role
The Specialist, Paralegal II role supports the US Asset Servicing business line legal team, focusing on servicing registered and unregistered investment funds, investment managers, banks, and other financial institutions. Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and revising legal agreements and correspondence, assisting with outside counsel engagements, and maintaining document files.
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in providing legal services to the Asset Servicing business.
- Draft, review, and revise legal agreements and correspondence specific to Asset Servicing.
- Avoidance of conflicts of interest and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Process client requests by obtaining relevant information and asking pertinent questions.
- Conduct fact-finding and legal or regulatory research and prepare findings for review by attorneys.
- Support outside counsel engagements, by arranging critical exchange of information and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation.
- Maintain, organize, and update document files and electronic documentation systems to ensure all documents are easily accessible and to preserve and protect confidential client and firm information.
- Prior experience using iManage a plus.
- Communicate with internal and external clients, outside counsel, and other BNY stakeholders.
- Perform administrative tasks as requested such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling special projects.
- Contribute to achievement of firm and department objectives.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department, preferably supporting financial services.
