About the role
The Manufacturing Specialist position provides support for the manufacturing team members. This position supports the safety, quality, and production requirements of the facility.
Primary responsibilities
- Support all safety policies and procedures for the site. Support the site’s PEAK initiatives.
- Ensure optimal process setup of manufacturing machinery and peripheral equipment.
- Ensure high efficiency production and equipment manufacturing.
- Provide guidance for Material Handlers, Set-Up Technicians and Manufacturing Technicians.
- Support samples of new products, equipment, materials and colors.
- Implement SMED methods and techniques.
- Support Design of Experiments (D.O.E.) on new products to optimize process and review tool designs for productivity.
- Backup to Manufacturing Supervisor for vacation and weekend coverage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Education level
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior to: Associates degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or Plastics Technology or related field.
Work experience
- Required: Three to Five years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with injection molding, blow molding or a relatable industry. Proficient with production software systems.
- Prior to: Robotics Automation, Injection, Blow, Silicone, and/or Two-shot molding experience. Experienced with MRP and MES systems.
Knowledge, skills and ability
- Ability to work independently and as a team member based on job duties and projects.
- Ability to lead in a team environment maintaining sensitive and confidential information and generate innovative solutions to situations.
- Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals.
- Skilled in technical writing skills (policies, procedures, etc.).
- Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying and explaining laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.
- Skilled in providing customer service.
- Skilled in new product launches and new equipment installations.
- Skilled in use of personal computer and related software applications.
- Prior to: Preferred knowledge of automation, plastic injection and blow molding, assembly and packaging operations and practices.
- Prior to: Preferred knowledge in reading and comprehending engineering diagrams.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand/walk up to 90% of the shift
- Lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to frequently bend and twist and have unrestricted use of upper extremities.
- Push/Pull up to 200 pounds.
