Specialist Manager, Risk and Compliance Services (Personal Consultation)

About the role

In this highly consultative role, you'll work closely with Deloitte professionals and engagement teams to help them navigate independence considerations impacting personal financial relationships and employment relationships. Success requires strong research and investigative skills and the ability to apply professional judgment under time pressure—regularly partnering with ICN and engagement leadership to gather relevant facts and assess compliance with independence policies and rules.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide direction to staff team members, including reviewing documentation related to employment relationships and personal financial relationships held by Deloitte professionals and their family members.
• Work with ICN PPMDs and Senior Managers to analyze and conclude on the permissibility of financial relationships held by professionals across the firm.
• Liaise with professionals and engagement teams to corroborate information, document analyses, and communicate conclusions.
• Draft and review communications to audit clients and audit committees, and perform research to identify complex affiliate relationships.
• Interpret and apply American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) independence rules, as well as Deloitte US Firms independence policies, while identifying process improvement opportunities with team members.

The Personal Consultation team within Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN) performs a critical consultation and risk-management function for the Deloitte US Firms, protecting Deloitte from conflicts of interest and keeping the Deloitte US Firms independent, objective, and impartial, in fact and appearance. Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 6+ years of experience in professional services, compliance, risk management, accounting, financial services, legal, or audit environments.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting rules, regulations, standards, or firm policies.
• Ability to travel up to 5%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Advanced degree in finance, accounting, business, or law.
• Experience applying independence requirements for professional auditing firms.
• Experience in public accounting.
• Experience in regulatory compliance, risk assessment, or financial services.
• Experience interpreting rules, regulations, and standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and other standard office productivity tools.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,000 to $171,300. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to program rules, where awards depend on individual and organizational performance.
