About the role
Energy Transfer is seeking a SCADA Specialist to perform real-time SCADA system support and administration for a Pipeline SCADA system. This position interacts with Pipeline Control to ensure safe and secure pipeline monitoring and control through SCADA HMI systems. The SCADA Specialist will collaborate with Field Personnel to integrate RTUs and PLCs for real-time data.
Responsibilities
- System configuration and administration for SCADA databases and graphical displays used in Control Center operations.
- Manage system interfaces, business data processes, and reporting.
- Work with Field Personnel, CRM, and the Control Center on projects to determine points for SCADA integration of field sites.
- Participate in lineouts testing to meet regulatory requirements.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot data polling from the SCADA system to remote PLCs and RTUs.
- Ensure the SCADA application provides pipeline controllers with the tools needed to operate the pipeline safely.
- Provide 24x7 rotational support to the Control Center.
- Document changes, obtain required approvals, and submit changes.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Experience may substitute for a degree.
- 2-5 years of experience with SCADA systems (CygNet SCADA experience is a plus).
- Gas and/or liquids pipeline experience preferred, with knowledge of measurement technologies, process control automation, device protocols, networking, and telecommunications.
- Strong problem-solving, technical, and functional skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Experience with Windows operating system and server administration.
- Ability to follow controlled procedures, adhere to database and display standards, and manage changes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple concurrent projects.
- Must work well in a team environment and interact with all levels of management, engineering, systems, operations, and field personnel.
Required experience varies by job level:
- IT Specialist: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Senior IT Specialist: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Lead IT Specialist: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of real-time systems, particularly SCADA systems, PLCs, and RTUs.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; SQL and Microsoft development tools (.NET, Visual Studio) are a plus.
- Basic understanding of pipeline hydraulics, PLC/RTU communication protocols, and TCP/IP communications.
- CygNet SCADA application experience with remote site integration.
- Familiarity with PHMSA Control Room Management (CRM) processes and guidelines.

Working Conditions
