Join JLL as an HVAC Mechanic / Building Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC/R, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within assigned facilities. You'll be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing air handling units, exhaust fans, fume hoods, fan coil units, reheat coils, and related systems while responding to customer service requests related to indoor temperature and comfort issues. This position may provide floating coverage with shifts determined weekly to support PTO and planned absences for 12-hour operators.
What your day-to-day will look like
Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC/R systems and associated mechanical equipment while troubleshooting and repairing air handling units, exhaust fans, fume hoods, fan coil units, reheat coils, and related systems to maximize equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
Respond to customer service requests related to indoor temperature and comfort issues, perform preventive maintenance and repair work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, and support building interior and exterior repairs including lighting, roofing systems, walls, flooring, and fixtures when needed.
Maintain accurate system documentation and update work order status in CMMS and SAP systems in real time, conduct facility inspections, and report conditions impacting operations or occupancy to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence.
Complete vehicle safety inspections and comply with all safety procedures and regulations, identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions, and escalate operational issues to management and clients in a timely manner.
Attend required work and safety meetings, complete all assigned training, and support technical team operations including staffing, onboarding, reporting, training others, and compliance activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of field experience with trade school training or 5 years of total field experience, and minimum 4 years of technical building engineering experience with strong HVAC/R, plumbing, and electrical maintenance knowledge.
- Universal EPA 608 Certification with strong understanding of HVAC system design, repair, electrical, low voltage controls, and maintenance.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Basic computer proficiency including email, internet, and CMMS systems with ability to maintain accurate system documentation and update work order status in real time.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds, frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, and overhead work, ability to work from ladders up to 30 feet while carrying tools, and ability to work in extremely hot and cold environments during daytime or nighttime hours with availability for call-in work and flexible scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school education or apprenticeship in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical systems demonstrating advanced technical knowledge and formal training in building systems maintenance and repair.
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience with ability to support technical team operations, onboarding, training others, and compliance activities.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS), low voltage controls, and integrated building management platforms for optimized facility performance.
- Proven track record of responding effectively to customer service requests, resolving temperature and comfort issues, and maintaining strong client relationships in commercial real estate or corporate facilities environments.
