Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards
  • Plan individual and group activities to actively engage children and encourage social, emotional, and cognitive growth
  • Comply with all state regulations, including required training and education
  • Diaper children and assist in toilet training
  • Conduct parent meetings, communications, and child assessments
  • Evaluate children for proper development
  • Supervise assisting teachers to ensure they follow planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and security of children
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure quality improvement and meet state regulations

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Four (4) A or B Certificate
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, Special Education (birth to eight years focus), or Child and Family Services, plus at least twelve months experience working with groups of children from grade three or younger
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least 30 college credits in an early childhood or school-age focus and at least twelve months experience working with groups of children from grade three or younger
    • Current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education

Pay

The expected pay range is $22.50/hr – $32.14/hr. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Year-round, full-time hours available.
