About the role
The Audit & Controls Specialist supports the effectiveness of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal control framework by executing audit and control activities across operational, financial, commercial, and support functions. The role evaluates business processes to identify risks, assess the adequacy of internal controls, and recommend practical solutions that strengthen compliance, operational efficiency, and asset protection. The Specialist also supports the implementation and continuous improvement of internal control processes, ensuring alignment with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform branch audits, accounting control assessments, and balance sheet reviews according to plan
- Manage timely closure of SOX issue tickets and follow up with process owners
- Perform Travel & Expense reviews to ensure compliance with Otis policies
- Perform risk-gap assessment and control testing
- Complete and report all SOX requirements deliverables on time
- Perform segregation of duties and system access reviews (UAR)
- Participate in preparation of quarterly management representation letter
- Participate in preparation of quarterly changes in internal controls report
- Review and update Approval Matrix for the regions as needed (JDE System)
- Coordinate branch audits plan with management
- Coordinate and provide training to business areas as needed
- Coordinate and conduct monthly/quarterly activities to maintain an adequate control environment
- Conduct periodic reviews of policies and follow up on timely updates
- Drive and monitor continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 4-5 years of general accounting and internal controls experience
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective to identify solutions
- Self-motivated; works independently with minimal guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong data analysis skills (Power BI, Query, etc.)
- JDE Accounting software experience a plus
- Project and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
