Responsibilities
- Cook offloads deliveries and loads trucks at job sites.
- Cook coordinates, installs, and repairs sheet metal and/or duct systems.
- Cook assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary.
- Cook performs field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and sets up the specific task or project schedule.
- Cook makes adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules.
- Cook manages materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled.
- Cook ensures optimal material consumption.
- Cook inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
- Cook reads blueprints and interprets specifications.
- Cook keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment.
- Cook serves as a coach by monitoring and mentoring Apprentices and laborers with production and quality workmanship.
- Cook strengthens skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers.
- Cook emphasizes commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes in the best interests of the company.
- Cook follows all OSHA and TPMC standards for safety.
- Cook keeps work area clear of unnecessary clutter and performs routine clean-up as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience/Qualifications Required: 1+ year light commercial experience in sheet metal/HVAC field operations. Prior shop experience a plus. Stable work history.
- Job Skills: Ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of general sheet metal and HVAC installation. Ability to fabricate offsets. Working knowledge of all hand and power tools. Able to do basic take-offs. Able to install equipment. Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
- Education: High School or GED equivalent Journeyman License a plus. Trade School a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Eyesight correctable to 20/50. Able to work long hours on feet. Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds. Able to perform shift work. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must not be afraid of heights.
- Special Requirements: Valid Driver’s License. Must provide their own basic hand tools. Able to operate heavy machinery. OSHA 10 certified.
