About the role

The Special Operations Strength and Conditioning Specialist (HQ AFSOC/Hurlburt Field, FL) position is located onsite and offers relocation. The role involves establishing and administering effective strength and conditioning protocols to enhance the physical performance of Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, evaluate, and document physical training protocols under supervision.
  • Coordinate training programs with HP staff to facilitate safe and expedited returns to training for SOF personnel recovering from injury.
  • Develop and implement physical training programs for TDY/TAD or deployed personnel.
  • Provide instruction and guidance on physical training, exercises, movements, and injury prevention.
  • Refer personnel with new or undiagnosed medical conditions to medical providers.
  • Assist in developing facility standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training protocols.
  • Participate in periodic meetings to review and evaluate physical training programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Attend required training and complete continuing education units.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining records, conducting education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance.
  • Develop and promote training materials as needed.
  • Manage supply inventories and provide input on supply needs.
  • Literally utilize computers, software, and technologies as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.
  • Current certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.
  • DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.

Skills

  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Physical proficiency to perform prescribed exercises and hike over rough terrain.
  • Able to lift and manipulate loads and weights up to 25 kilograms.

Desired

  • Prior military and/or SOF experience.
  • Master's degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.
