Special Needs Caregiver
Job Summary
BAYADA Habilitation is seeking a Habilitation Technician to serve as a Companion/Buddy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves building long-lasting relationships, supporting clients in achieving their goals, and fostering an inclusive community environment.
About the Role
This position provides one-on-one support in the local community, focusing on activities the client enjoys such as Special Olympics. It also includes helping clients develop independence in various areas like budgeting, socializing, and using public transportation.
Responsibilities
- Build long-lasting relationships with clients
- Spend time on client's favorite hobbies and activities
- Support clients in developing independence and achieving their goals
- Ensure client safety and well-being in the home and community
- Be attentive to meet the individual's needs with dignity and respect
Requirements
- No prior experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Passion for working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Patience, empathy, and dedication
