Special Itinerant - Mechanic
About the role
This position is located at our Turkey Point Fossil Plant in Homestead, Florida and will travel the state of Florida to support the fleet outages. Tools are provided by the company. Days and shifts will vary based on the business unit needs during the outage. Normal schedule (not supporting an outage) is a day shift Monday-Friday. Overtime hours average approximately between 400 hours to 800 hours per year. Employees are offered per diem when traveling outside of their region. The plant operates 24/7 so individuals will be expected to work and support weekend days as needed.
Responsibilities
- Operates all types of power and machine tools and uses any hand tools and equipment necessary to provide a safe, clean and productive work place.
- Uses precision tools when required.
- Maintains stock and records of plant mechanical materials, supplies, tools and spare parts.
- Performs preventive and minor maintenance to ensure the proper function of plant equipment.
- Performs major maintenance on plant equipment, plant construction, demolition and removal, and repair and replacement of plant mechanical equipment and structures.
- Performs associated responsibilities according to the rules contained in the safe work practices handbook and the Memorandum of Agreement.
Requirements
- Pwr Plt Mtce Pos Sel Sys Test passed
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

- Dual Craft Certified (preferred)
- Welder Certified (preferred)
- Welder Certified (PGD) (preferred)
