About the role

Atlas is a trusted leader in environmental and infrastructure consulting services. We provide services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, employing a team of 3,500 professionals across the US. Our mission is to create a better experience at every stage of a project, ensuring smart, safe, and sustainable outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform field and lab inspection and testing of construction materials, including rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
  • Obtain representative samples in line with project specifications.
  • Review project plans and specifications to confirm work meets requirements.
  • Prepare accurate test reports and a daily diary before leaving the jobsite, and keep clear records of time, supplies, training hours, timecards, and expenses.
  • Complete all required safety reporting and keep assigned gear clean, calibrated, and operable.
  • Support project teams across Boise, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and surrounding areas, with availability for weekend, early-morning, or late-evening shifts as projects require.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with the public, contractors, and team members, returning calls and emails promptly.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or GED, plus a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance.
  • A genuine willingness to learn — this is an entry-level trainee role, and Atlas provides the training to help you earn your ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1 and Radiation Safety Training certifications within your first six months.
  • The physical readiness for field work: lifting up to 100 lbs, repeated bending, twisting and climbing (ladders, scaffolds, and stairs), walking on irregular surfaces, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfort working outdoors in extreme weather and on active construction sites — staying safety-conscious around heavy equipment, vehicles, and materials such as radioactive testing sources, dust, chemicals, and concrete.
  • General computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), basic math and writing skills, and the ability to read and follow procedures (foundational knowledge of construction materials testing is a plus).
  • A professional, detail-oriented work ethic, clear verbal and written communication, and flexibility around variable hours.
