Special Education Tutor - Academic & AAC Support

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Calimesa, CA Details In-Person Tutoring in Calimesa, CASchedule: 18 Hours per month, 2x a week for 1.5 hours per sessionPay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate Experience working with students with cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, and/or significant communication needsExperience supporting non-verbal students is strongly preferredComfortable working with students who use AAC devices or other alternative communication methodsStrong ability to provide highly individualized and structured instructionExperience teaching or supporting life skills, functional routines, and independence skillsComfortable simplifying academic concepts and adapting instruction to the student's developmental levelPatient, consistent, and confident with calm but firm redirectionSkilled in using visual supports, hands-on materials, repetition, and experiential learningAble to create engaging activities that encourage participation and explorationComfortable supporting foundational academics, including reading, writing, and mathAble to follow IEP goals and adapt instruction based on the student's communication and learning needsStrong understanding of the importance of consistency, clear expectations, and predictable routinesCreative and resourceful when developing activities that make learning accessible and meaningful Key Responsibilities Provide individualized academic and functional support based on the student's IEP and learning needsProvide simplified science instruction using hands-on activities, visual supports, demonstrations, and explorationConnect science concepts to real-world experiences to promote understanding and engagementTeach functional life skills, including daily routines, independence, and practical living conceptsSupport the development of skills that can be generalized across home, school, and community settingsIntegrate the student's AAC device into instruction and provide opportunities for communication during activitiesSupport foundational reading and literacy skills, including comprehension and sentence compositionProvide handwriting and written expression practice adapted to the student's abilitiesReinforce foundational Math concepts through hands-on and functional activitiesUse visual schedules, structured routines, repetition, and clear expectations to support participationProvide patient but firm redirection when the student becomes distracted or disengagedAdapt materials and activities to accommodate the student's physical, communication, and cognitive needsEncourage active participation through interactive, sensory-friendly, and experiential learningMonitor progress and adjust instruction based on the student's response and developing independenceCollaborate with the student's existing support team when appropriate to maintain consistency across instructional goals Why Tutor Me Education?
