Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports students in small groups or 1:1
- Aid students with assignments, homework, projects
- Understand and adapt materials to help students learn
- Teach students about classroom rules and reinforce them
- Implement behavior management strategies
- Develop social skills and positive behaviors in students
- De-escalate student behaviors and seek support
- Reinforce Social Development Initiative (SDI) concepts
Required/Preferred Education
- High school degree or higher
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Two years/60 credit hours of higher education or passing ADE assessment
Required/Preferred Experience
- Experience in special education
Required/Preferred Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An interest in reading great books
Physical Functions
- Standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements
- Bending, squatting, reaching
- Moving or positioning equipment up to 15 pounds
