Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports students in small groups or 1:1
- Aid students with assignments, homework, projects
- Adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn
- Understand and reinforce classroom rules
- Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions
- Implement behavior management strategies
- Develop social skills and positive behaviors in students
- De-escalate student behaviors and seek support from teachers
- Reinforce Social Development Initiative (SDI) concepts
- Help students with transitions and activities
- Support students with personal hygiene needs
- Provide assistance with mobility and adaptive equipment
- Offer general clerical support for the ESS Team
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Create a supportive and positive learning environment
Required/Preferred Education
- High school degree or higher
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
Required/Preferred Experience
- Experience in special education
Required/Preferred Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An interest in reading great books
- Valid Educational Aide level I, II, or III certification in the state of Texas preferred
Physical Functions
- Standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements
- Bending, squatting, reaching
- Movement or positioning of equipment up to 15 pounds
