About the role
The Lourie Center School, part of Adventist HealthCare, seeks a Special Education Teacher to support exceptional students. The school focuses on improving social and emotional health through prevention, intervention, education, research, and training.
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of exceptional students' needs, curriculum, and special education techniques to support student success.
- Instruct students in assigned subjects using various methodologies tailored to individual student needs.
- Create and present diagnostic findings, progress reports, and educational plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance student success.
- Implement and evaluate instructional programs based on special education standards.
Requirements
- Experience with instructional program design and implementation for exceptional students.
- Firm knowledge of local school systems and state curricula.
- Proven ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Bachelor’s degree in special education preferred, with 2 years of teaching experience in early childhood/elementary special education.
- Certified by MSDE for a provisional or standard I teacher certificate.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Basic knowledge of child and adolescent development.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of early childhood methodology relevant to Lourie School operations.
- Ability to measure and improve student academic and behavioral outcomes.
Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
$57,606.24 - $83,532.80 annually
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
