About the role
This is a full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role based in East Hartford, CT.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities in a middle school setting.
- Plan and implement differentiated instruction, modify curriculum, and provide accommodations to support student access to general education content.
- Ongoing collaboration with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and support staff to monitor progress and adjust interventions.
- Conduct assessments, maintain accurate documentation, participate in IEP meetings, and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior, self-advocacy, and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Special Education practices and experience supporting students with Disabilities.
- Demonstrated Teaching skills with middle school learners, including classroom management and differentiated instruction.
- Understanding of Middle School curricula and the ability to adapt content for diverse learning needs.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- State certification or eligibility for certification in Special Education in Connecticut.
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs and progress monitoring tools.
- Able to use educational technology and data to inform instruction and interventions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; advanced degree is preferred but not required.
