Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Special Education
- Massachusetts Licensure as a Teacher of Special Education (Moderate or Severe Disabilities)
- Ability to coordinate classroom instruction for multiple learners with diverse learning styles
- Proven ability to coordinate the efforts of classroom teachers, teacher assistants, and other related specialists
- Knowledge of multiple formal and informal assessment tools and methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Training in Trauma Sensitive practices
- Experience working with students who have a variety of learning disabilities, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, social and emotional disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorder
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with general and special educators, related service providers, and teaching assistants to design and implement effective instruction for students in accordance with students’ IEPs, social, emotional, and academic needs
- Absess for special education eligibility, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs in compliance with all state and federal regulations and timelines governing the delivery of special education services
- Monitor and document student progress in compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the delivery of special education services
- Provide specialized instruction for each student as needed
- Create and maintain student schedules
- Cookordinate with related service providers in working with students on the caseload
- Cookordinate the activities of classroom assistants, including providing inclusion opportunities as called for in students’ IEPs
- Other related duties as assigned by Principal or Special Education Coordinator
