Special Education Teacher: Resource Room

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the specific needs of students.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in small group and individualized settings.
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers to create inclusive, differentiated learning environments.
• Model and coach general education teachers in implementing strategies and interventions for students with diverse needs in the classroom.
• Use evidence-based practices to promote student engagement, self-regulation, and academic success.
• Monitor student progress, track data, and adjust instructional methods based on individual needs and goals.
• Act as a resource for staff in implementing accommodations, behavior management strategies, and supporting students' social-emotional development.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for home support.
• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide activities.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience working with students with executive functioning and behavioral challenges, particularly in early elementary grades.
• Strong understanding of Special Education Law, IEP development, and evidence-based interventions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, staff, and parents.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with data collection, progress monitoring, and adapting instruction.
• Careful, patient, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, and training.
