Special Education Teacher- Preschool (Mendenhall River Community School)

Part-time position (.50 FTE) at Mendenhall River Community School, available immediately. One-year contract.

About the Role

The successful individual will manage a student caseload on a special education team and contribute to a dynamic and innovative team working to enhance the educational program within the school and the district. This role requires awareness and use of multiple forms of assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in education.
• Valid Alaska teaching certificate with a special education endorsement. More information.
• Recent experience managing large caseloads with a variety of exceptionalities.
• Flexibility and ability to work with colleagues in multiple settings.
• Knowledge of current research in the field and teaching strategies for diverse students.
• Appreciation for parental concerns and availability to parents.
• Behavior management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills promoting positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience teaching special education.
• Understanding of IDEA requirements.
