About the role
Lilac Learning Center is growing our Tacoma site and is seeking a Special Education Teacher. Whether you are new to teaching or have experience, we welcome you to apply. New and recently credentialed teachers are encouraged to join us, and we provide training, mentorship, and day-to-day support.
Responsibilities
- Get to know each student and build learning environments that fit them
- Plan and teach alongside your team, and adjust as students grow
- Support students through hard moments, including physical management procedures when needed (training provided)
- Coach and guide the Lead Technicians and Behavior Technicians in your classroom
- Share day-to-day responsibilities and keep student procedures consistent
- Keep parents and caregivers in the loop on student progress
- Contribute to curriculum as our program grows
- Pitch in on classroom and facility upkeep and other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A current Special Education license
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good organization and steady problem-solving skills
- Comfort working independently and as part of a team
- Sound judgment, openness to feedback, and respect for the chain of command
Qualifications
- Even better if you bring previous ABA experience
- No classroom experience yet? That's okay. If you hold the credential (or are close) and bring the right attitude, we'll teach you the rest.
