Special Education Teacher - Middle School (Anticipated - 1.0 FTE)

About the role

This position is for a Special Education Middle School teacher at Fredonia Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is anticipated to be full-time (1.0 FTE) and probationary.

Responsibilities

• Teach students with disabilities in grades 5-8
• Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with other special education teachers and support staff
• Participate in IEP meetings and progress monitoring
• Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

Requirements

• Certification in Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 (SWD 1-6) or Students with Disabilities (All Grades) (SWD all grades)
• Extension of certification in Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 (SWD 1-6) or Students with Disabilities (All Grades) (SWD all grades) that includes Grades 5 & 6
• Master's degree preferred
• Experience in public education preferred

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of special education principles and practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and support staff
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs

Benefits

The position offers competitive compensation based on relevant certifications and experience. The starting salary is $44,066, with potential for adjustment based on additional qualifications.
