About the role
BASIS Flagstaff is seeking a Special Education Teacher Long-Term Substitute to join their dedicated team. The role involves working directly with students to fulfill educational services and supports outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities
- Work with students with disabilities in small group or 1:1 settings.
- Interact directly with assigned students to meet IEP requirements.
- Fulfill required provisions in student plans, including service minutes, through specially designed instruction and related supports.
- Provide instructional interventions and academic support to individual students or small groups.
- Offer case management services for students with disabilities, including coordinating IEP team meetings, communicating with parents, developing programs, and implementing special education services.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education requirements.
- Facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with general education teachers to implement IEP requirements.
- Collect and maintain documentation associated with IEPs and ensure confidentiality and integrity of student records and progress information.
- Develop a working knowledge of general education curriculum to adapt content for students with disabilities.
- May need to perform CPI or TACT-2 certified restraint or seclusion as school designee.
- Communicate and coordinate with related service providers to schedule student services and IEP meetings.
- Oversee daily tasks of the ESS Assistant(s) and/or Special Education Specialist.
- Proctor individual or small group testing for state, district, or alternate assessments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check.
- Current special education certificate valid in relevant jurisdiction.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
- Substitute certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
- Master’s degree in special education or related subject matter preferred.
- 1+ year(s) special education experience preferred.
- CPI or TACT-2 certification preferred.
