Special Education Teacher - High School (The Carter School)
Duties
- Collaborates and co-teaches daily with other educators and specialists in the planning, adapting and teaching of the curriculum for all learners.
- Collaborates with other educators and specialists in the planning, adaptation, and teaching of the curriculum for students.
- Plans and implements motivating and creative age-appropriate lessons and activities to address goals as outlined in each student’s IEP.
- Collaborate with other teachers and therapists to implement an integrated educational/therapeutic model.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content throughout the academic year.
- Progress monitors all students’ goals with fidelity.
- Maintain data records on each student's progress be used to write accurate evaluations, goals, and/or progress reports.
- Knowledge and practice of methods for formatively assessing students.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in special education.
- Valid Certification from RIDE as a Special Education Teacher in Severe/Profound or Mild/Moderate with willingness to pursue Severe/Profound disabilities certification.
