About the role
The Lisbon School Department is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education teacher to teach in a non-categorical resource room program.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction and academic support to students with disabilities in a resource room setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families to support student achievement
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Support students in developing organization, study, self-advocacy, and transition skills
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
- Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
- Supervise and support Educational Technicians
Requirements
The candidate must hold a valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License with endorsement 282.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- At least one year of successful teaching experience in a special education setting
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proficiency in using assistive technology
Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience.
