About the role

The Lisbon School Department is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education teacher to teach in a non-categorical resource room program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and academic support to students with disabilities in a resource room setting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families to support student achievement
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Support students in developing organization, study, self-advocacy, and transition skills
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
  • Supervise and support Educational Technicians

Requirements

The candidate must hold a valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License with endorsement 282.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • At least one year of successful teaching experience in a special education setting
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in using assistive technology

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The start date is August 2026.
