About the role

Auburn-Washburn USD 437 is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team. Additional compensation is provided to special education teachers teaching in classrooms not designed for students with significant or severe disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with other special education staff.
• Support students' social-emotional development and behavior management.
• Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to accommodate students with varying abilities.

Requirements

• Kansas teaching license
• Applicable endorsement(s)
• Bachelor’s degree

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special educational needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff
• Knowledge of current special education practices and trends
