Job Summary
Horizon Montessori Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Harlingen Campus team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching students with diverse needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
About the Role
The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students, families, and other educators to provide individualized support and accommodations to ensure all students can reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and goals.
- Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and school staff to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed to meet individual learning needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
- Work collaboratively with families to communicate progress and address concerns regarding their child's education.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- A current Texas teaching certificate in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of applicable state and federal laws.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Montessori educational principles and practices.
- Experience with Montessori classroom management techniques.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
