About the role
Special Education Teacher (General) with an Instructional Strategist I endorsement for grades 5-12.
Schedule
High school hours: 7:25 a.m. – 3:25 p.m., 8.0 hours per day.
Pay
Starting salary: $50,012 (BA/0 years of experience), with increases based on degree and experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction to high-school students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with general-education teachers, parents, and support staff.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Provide direct support in both self-contained and inclusive classroom settings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and building-level special-education team activities.
Requirements
- Valid Iowa teaching license with a 5-12 Instructional Strategist I endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Ability to pass a background check and meet all district hiring criteria.
