About the role
The Grant County Goodwill Excel Center seeks a Special Education (SPED) Teacher of Record who enjoys a flexible and mission-driven environment. School hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with Friday being flexible/preparatory days.
Responsibilities
- Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with their Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
- Maintains accurate and compliant student records (IEPs and 504s) and prepares documentation as required by law.
- Maintains visibility in the school building through classroom push-ins and communicates relevant information and data to staff, students, and families.
- Develops compliant and comprehensive transition plans and identifies and tracks relevant student/school data/staff performance.
- Works directly with the school director to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc.
- Affords support to staff with professional development, training, and goal setting.
- Supports the school community by attending events, outreach opportunities, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and current Indiana Teaching Certification in Special Education-Mild and/or Intense Intervention.
- Working knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills.
- Demonstrated comprehension of federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services.
- Adept at performing student observations, creating, collecting, reviewing, and maintaining information to manage or improve the achievement of learning behaviors and goals.
- Possesses organizational aptitude, planning, and attention to detail.
- Displays informed decision-making, communication skills, coaching abilities, and teamwork.
- Has working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems and Indiana’s online IEP system.
