Special Education Teacher- Emotional Impairment

This position is part of a collaborative effort involving the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principrators, Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, and Michigan School Public Relations Association.

About the role

We are seeking passionate educators to fill various teaching positions across Michigan K-12 schools through the Michigan Alternative Certification program. These roles provide an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the classroom while completing certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
• Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support instruction.
• Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Enrollment in or eligibility for the Michigan Alternative Certification program.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with K-12 students.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
