Special Education Teacher- Birth to Three

About the role

At Curative Care, you can be part of a team of excited individuals making a real difference in families' lives. The Special Education Teacher provides Special Instruction Services, either directly or on a consultation basis, to children with special needs, their families, and caregivers in a variety of settings. You will support families and/or caregivers to be an integral part of their child’s Birth to Three Program, perform evaluations of children aged 0-3 in their home, plan, develop, and implement educational programs, and maintain written and verbal communication involving persons served with all appropriate staff members.

The Early Intervention Specialist - Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing early intervention services to children in the environment where the child naturally spends their day. The teacher will address all areas of development and base treatment activities on the goals written by the parents and stated on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). The teacher also supports families through the Birth to Three process and reports directly to the Director of Birth to Three programming.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate as a team member in the screening, evaluation, and IFSP process.
• Work with all early intervention staff under a Primary Provider Approach with an emphasis on Coaching as a strategy.
• Promote provision of services that are relationship-based, family-centered, collaborative, and based on enhancing family strengths to support family functioning, increasing each child’s opportunities to achieve maximum developmental potential.
• Provide Special Instruction Services, either directly or on a consultation basis, to children with special needs, their families, and caregivers in various settings.
• Support families and/or caregivers to be an integral part of their child’s Birth to Three Program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Education (Exceptional Educational Needs). Degrees in Visual and Hearing Impairment are also accepted.
• DPI 808, 809, or Vision 803/Hearing 805 license required.
• Must have an early childhood Special Education license.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance are required.
