About the role

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking dedicated and passionate Special Education Teachers to support students in kindergarten through 12th grade. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction, collaborate with educational teams, and help students achieve academic and personal success in an inclusive learning environment. The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to students receiving special education support. The ideal candidate is committed to collaboration, individualized instruction, and working closely with general education staff, families, and support teams to meet student needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction based on students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, and related service providers
  • Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Support positive student behavior and classroom engagement
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school personnel
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations

Schedule & Assignment Details

  • Multiple openings available
  • Full-time schedule, approximately 37.5 hours per week
  • School-based position
  • Contract length: 39 weeks
  • Start date: September 2026
  • Hours vary based on school assignment
  • Interview with school leadership required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification as required by state and district regulations
  • Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred
  • Special Education certification preferred
  • Standard Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching certification preferred
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
  • Current CPR certification if required
  • Current TB screening, health certificate, or other state-required clearances if applicable
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
