Special Education Teacher Assistant - Transition Program, Transitioning Onwards Promotes Success (TOPS), Students Ages 18-21 - School Year 2026-2027 (Anticipated Vacancies)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out the instructional program under the supervision of teaching personnel.
• Aid in maintaining student records.
• Aid in preparing, using, and maintaining job training materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
• Follow teacher instruction and guidance.
• Assist in supervising student grooming activities.
• Supervise students in job-related settings.
• Participate in planned inservice and professional growth activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

• Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
• Educational Aide Certification.
• Ability to work with young adults using appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: Obtained or ability to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver License to transport students.

None

Computer and various office equipment.

• Regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands

• Repetitive hand motions.
• Prolonged use of the computer.
• Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
• Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
• Physical capacity to lift, transfer and otherwise assist students with disabilities (e.g., ability to lift 50 lbs.).
