Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in carrying out the instructional program under the supervision of teaching personnel.
- Aid in maintaining student records.
- Aid in preparing, using, and maintaining job training materials and equipment.
- Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
- Follow teacher instruction and guidance.
- Assist in supervising student grooming activities.
- Supervise students in job-related settings.
- Participate in planned inservice and professional growth activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
- Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
- Educational Aide Certification.
- Ability to work with young adults using appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: Obtained or ability to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver License to transport students.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Equipment Used
Computer and various office equipment.
Working Conditions
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent interruptions.
- Regular in-person interaction with the public.
Physical Demands
- Repetitive hand motions.
- Prolonged use of the computer.
- Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
- Physical capacity to lift, transfer and otherwise assist students with disabilities (e.g., ability to lift 50 lbs.).
