About the role
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to special education students in kindergarten through grade 12. This role is responsible for supporting student success through individualized instruction, collaboration with educational teams, and consultation with general education staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
- Develop, implement, and monitor student educational programs and goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.
- Provide tutorial assistance and instructional support as needed.
- Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and program planning activities.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable educational policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Support an inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement and growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations.
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred.
- Standard Elementary Teaching certification preferred.
- Standard Secondary Teaching certification preferred.
- Standard Special Education Teaching certification preferred.
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred.
- Knowledge of and compliance with professional standards of practice.
- Current CPR certification, if applicable.
- TB screening, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.
- Current health certificate, as required.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
