About the Role

Gateway Longview's Education programs support K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively managing a 6:1:1 specialized classroom
• Write specific lesson plans that adhere to the Common Core; are chronologically and developmentally appropriate; reflect differentiated instruction techniques; incorporate technology, and are creative
• Effectively incorporating support staff into the classroom program
• Develop Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") in accordance with current New York State Education and Gateway practice, procedures and policies
• Fulfill other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• New York State Certification in appropriate grade levels and as a condition of future employment must be working toward, or be willing to pursue, appropriate Special Education certification in appropriate grade levels
• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening
• Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles
• Ability to physically restrain if required

Preferred Qualifications

• New York State Certification in Special Education

Compensation

$47,256 - $60,879 (yearly). Offers based on education and years of relevant experience.
